Celebrity or Servant? BOTH!

I'm baa-aack!  We had a really great ending to our vacation week!

First, we were able to go down to Life Baptist Church in St. Stephen, SC for the Summer Spectacular, aka the Back-To-School-Bash!  One of the preachers there, Pastor Lee Davis, preached a very good message about being a Celebrity or a Servant.  It was taken from Matthew 20:25-28, I'm pretty sure:

Matthew 20:25-28
(25) But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
(26) But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
(27) And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
(28) Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

When we have bad days, and all we can think about is "how bad we have it serving the Lord", we can draw strength from these verses.  We can know that our blessings may not necessarily come to us down here, but we will be rewarded in Heaven.

Then, the next evening, we were privileged to be able to attend a concert featuring The Whisnant's, Ivan Parker & Jeff & Sheri Easter.  We really enjoyed this!  These are some of my favorite Southern Gospel Singers.

Here is an instance in which "Celebrities" are also "Servants"!  It would surely be nice to be both a "Celebrity" for writing Christian Fiction books here, but it may not necessarily happen!  But I know that I can be a servant by writing the stories that the Lord gives me--and this is more important than being "world renown!"

Here is where the concert ties to VCP!

In Book #1, Home, there is a song mentioned in the book that is very important!  It is on Susan Whisnant's CD, "For The Life Of Me".  You have to read the book to find out what the song is!  Anyways, I was able to me Mrs. Susan, and present her with a copy of Home.  She is such as blessing!

For Book #2, Wheels of Love, I was able to do a phone interview with Mrs. Sheri Easter about life on the road.  She was also able to pick my brain about publishing, as she was in the stages of writing her own book, Hear my Heart. I was able to present her with a copy of "Wheels of Love" along with my thanks.

I appreciate the service of both of these ladies and their families as they minister for the Lord as both "Celebrities and Servants!"

Here are some pics from this weekend!  I hope you enjoy!
